Bontex is a material manufacturer specializing in cellulose boards, fiberboards, and stitch-bonded strobel fabrics for the footwear, fashion, furniture, and construction industries. Its previous catalog followed a conventional bound format — effective for documenting specifications, but limited in allowing the materials themselves to become part of the conversation.

For a material-driven business, specifications are only one way to understand a product. Being able to pick up a sample and experience its thickness, flexibility, and texture often communicates far more immediately. We therefore reimagined the traditional catalog as a physical system that combines storage, display, information, and tactile exploration.

Inspired by a file box, the structure serves two purposes. During transport and storage, individual material cards are neatly contained inside. Once opened at a trade show, the same box transforms into a tabletop display. Each product series is color-coded, while every material has its own removable card, allowing visitors to pick it up, read its specifications, and physically interact with the sample.

The information on each card was also reorganized into a consistent system covering composition, thickness, performance, and applications, supported by clear hierarchy and visual charts. From transportation and display to browsing and comparing materials, the result moves beyond the idea of a conventional catalog — becoming a practical presentation tool that helps Bontex communicate its products through both information and touch.
